Background
Now in its 15th year, the Glasgow Art Fair is the country's most prestigious contemporary art fair outside of London for emerging and well-known artists. The event is firmly established as one of the key events in Scotland where art can be purchased, sold or viewed. The event attracts over 50 galleries and art organisations from throughout Scotland, the UK and Europe.
Brief
Field and Lawn’s brief was to construct a series of structures in George Square, Glasgow, which will allow the exhibitors and galleries to view or sell the art in a high quality facility.
Solution
The result was 8 separate structures, linked together, which create the main pavilion, entrance structure, storage structure, toilets, café structure and art packaging structures. The marquees are arranged to ensure that every available square metre of space within the square is utilised. In total over 3,200 square metres of structures are arranged to fit around statues, lamp posts and other fixtures on the square.
