Winter Wedding

Field and Lawn were approached by 88 Events Company to provide a marquee for a wedding reception in an exclusive estate oustide Glasgow in April, The brief to 88 Events from their client was that the interior of the marquee was to be in the style of Sir David Tang‘s retro-chic ‘China Club‘restaurant in Hong Kong and probably best summed up as a ‘sort of 1920‘s nightclub Glam‘. The structure was a hard sided marquee and the internal finish was of a starcloth roof, blackout walls and an electric gable reveal was installed between the reception and main dining area. Another major factor was the heating of the structure and for this we contracted a specialist heating company, Watkins Hire, who supplied the heating system with black units so that they blended into the wall. Field and Lawn also sub contacted the Classical Loo Company, who supplied their Flexiloo system. This was housed in a separate marquee linked to the main structure.

After the coldest winter in the UK on record we were not surprised that one the first day of the build there was 100mm of snow on the ground! Despite this the structure was delivered on time to the client and the comment of the bride's father summed up the success of the event "I think the moment that sums it up was the ‘reveal‘ - the expressions on all those faces as the curtain dropped made all the effort worthwhile and will be an enduring memory. I cannot put it better than to repeat what one of my very good friends said to me at the weekend... "It was like magic, like a conjuring trick!""
