Field and Lawn Marquees sponsor Edinburgh Trans Alp Racers

A team of 10 Edinburgh Road Club Cyclists recently completed the gruelling 1000km seven day transalp race from Munich in Germany to Lake Garda in Italy. The Field and Lawn Marquees sponsored team raced an average of 90 miles a day over some of the highest mountain passes in Europe climbing a total of 20,000m (over twice the height of Mount Everest).

The training for the race took place in Scotland mostly around Edinburgh but the Scottish climbs are small in comparison to the mountains of Europe; despite that the Edinburgh team did very well all completing the race in excellent time. The photograph shows Jo Merritt (left) and Karen Breneman (right) climbing again!. The famous climbs included Stelvio and the Mortirolo Pass a climb described by Lance Armstrong as the toughest mountain he has ever raced over.

Field and lawn Marquees have sponsored the Edinburgh Road Club for the last 5 years. Edinburgh RC is the biggest cycling club in Scotland, with over 600 members, also one of the biggest in the UK
