Ship Naming Ceremony On Humberside

An International shipping company asked Field and Lawn Marquees North Region office, based in Manchester, to assist with the naming ceremony of the latest addition to their fleet in style on Humberside – using a Field & Lawn temporary hospitality structure to entertain their guests.

Field & Lawn Marquees erected a 15m x 30m structure complete with levelled flooring system and glazing on to the concrete wharf area, immediately adjacent to the vessel, allowing the event attendees an amazing view. A decking area to the front was incorporated which provided a perfect opportunity for the guests to view the ceremony first hand, whilst enjoying the welcome canapés.

The interior design of the marquee was nautically themed, teaming blues and rattan furniture with ivory lining and a magnificent mirrored circular bar taking central position in the marquee. This was initially split in half for the first part of the event before revealing the dining area.

Field & Lawn Marquees also suggested a contingency plan provision in case of bad weather on the day of the naming. Deciding on the day of the event, the client requested that our contingency team were required. The instruction was to build two further structures on the morning of the event. These were sited on the pontoon only a few feet away from where the ship.

The event took three months to plan in total and, this planning proved worthwhile as the event was a massive success with every intricate detail covered. Due to the professionalism and thorough planning from all parties concerned, the event was a huge accomplishment.

Kate Irvine, Field and Lawn's Hire Manager working on the event stated: “It was an absolutely fantastic event and so rewarding to see all of the hard work come together.”
