By Field & Lawn

Throughout the UK in 2018, Field and Lawn has demonstrated logistical excellence by successfully delivering and installing marquees, festive lights, city dressing and industrial structures to over 400 different events.

We increased our presence at major festivals and events in the country including the BBC Big Weekend at Coventry and Swansea and The Royal Highland Show, providing reliable service and quality of product to these established events.

Our participation at sporting events started with providing hospitality structures for the Six Nations Internationals, various mass participation events and then in July, we demonstrated our Event Overlay delivery, as the official provider to the European Sports Championships held in Glasgow in August. This was the largest multi sporting event to be held in Scotland since the Commonwealth games. This involved our Edinburgh and Manchester Branches providing marquees and all the temporary event overlay from cabins, trackway, grandstands, and scaffold structures through to exhibition equipment to 11 different venues throughout Glasgow.

Our increased activity in the Industrial Structure sector, combined with our distribution agreement with a major European Manufacturer, has enabled us to install several structures for large industrial clients as well as supporting several retailers with their in-store refurbishments by providing long term rental structures from all our branches.

Christmas is an extremely busy time for us and this year’s festive lighting season saw us deliver over 100 unique displays across the UK for BIDS, councils’ landowners, retailers and some VIP private clients. At our peak we had over 25 crews operating each night with 25 cherry pickers and 60 staff (made up of riggers, electricians, traffic management). You can see our lights from 11 of the 22 properties on the Original Monopoly Map (including Mayfair, Oxford Street, Leicester Square and the Strand)!

Our staff are integral to our business and we have strengthened our project teams in all branches with 5 new project managers. In May six members of staff (including two Directors) cycled from Bristol to Edinburgh in aid of The Grand Appeal - The Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity. We raised £4,000 and, in the process, cycled over 400 miles in four days, drank over 200 litres of water, suffered three punctures, replaced one wheel, had two crashes, ate 32 pies as well as 26kg of pasta, and required a bucket load of chamois cream! Our Edinburgh branch also celebrated with Piers, John and Angela having a combined employment with Field and Lawn of over 50 years! Our people are key to the business and it is thanks to them that we can continue to deliver the projects to the highest standards. As we look forward into 2019, we will continue to invest in our rental stock, vehicles and staff.

We would like to acknowledge and thank all of our clients for being part of your teams and working with us to deliver fantastic experiences for you and your audiences. We look forward to engaging with you and potential new clients in the New Year.
