Creating New Spaces
Tuesday 06 October, 2020
It has been a tough time for students up and down the country over the last seven months.
With schools, colleges and universities closing to comply with Government guidelines, thousands of students began to learn from home. Though it has been fantastic to see the education sector bringing in new ways of teaching to help bridge the gap, we’re sure that students were happy to return to some level of normality when restrictions were eased.
However, even on returning, social distancing still needs to be observed. Even though most campuses are already large, they all needed to expand this footprint to account for additional safety measures. For many universities, this meant finding and opening up new areas – not an easy feat.
The Field and Lawn team worked with a major Welsh University recently to address this very problem.
Constructing two marquees measuring 900sqm and 525sqm with over 90 tonnes of ballast, the team created structures for students dining on campus. With these new areas, students can enjoy the university experience while staying safe and socially distanced.
