Field and Lawn team are shipshape at the launch of HMS Medway
Monday 13 November, 2017
Two years in the making and BAE Systems were ready to unveil the latest addition to the British naval fleet. The second vessel of five to be built by BAE Systems, the HMS Medway was officially named back in August, following the HMS Forth and preceding the HMS Spey, HMS Tamar and HMS Trent.
The prestigious naming ceremony promised attendance from political figures, as well as BAE Chief Executives, and it was a great honour for Field and Lawn’s Scotland team to be involved in this momentous occasion.
Taking place at Scotstoun in Glasgow, the event required marquee structures for VIP hospitality, school pupils and staff, as well as a 150-seat covered grandstand and a 3m podium for speeches.
Field and Lawn ensured that each stage of the build ran to plan and, as a result, the event ran smoothly. The mighty vessel was treated to the longstanding traditions of the Royal Navy with Lady Wendy Fallon, wife of Defense Secretary Sir Michael Fallon, being the one to release a bottle of Dockyard Gin against the ship’s hull.
