New Year, New Skills
Tuesday 05 February, 2019
Now that the festive season is fully behind us, it’s time to re-group and start looking forward to the 2019 events season.
The beginning of the new year focuses on ensuring we are prepared for the busy summer months of tenting ahead of us. The last of the Christmas decorations are being safely stored away in our warehouses, maintenance of our equipment has begun, and stock takes are being undertaken in all the Field and Lawn branches.
Continual investment in our tangible assets is an important part of being able to provide the level of service Field and Lawn offers its clients, but it is equally important to have a team with the necessary skills and experience to be able to successfully deliver each project we are involved in.
Our teams of foremen, drivers and riggers will attend a combination of CPC, Chapter 8, forklift and first aid training over the coming weeks but practical site experience is just as important as classroom-based learning and legislative accreditation.
With that in mind, as part of the project manager’s continuous development, the Manchester team spent an afternoon assembling a marquee themselves; giving them the opportunity to practically reinforce their theoretical knowledge by handling all the different components of a marquee, going through the stages of safely erecting a structure and seeing first-hand how all the elements fit together and the functions they perform.
If our project managers understand both the product and process they will be equipped with the knowledge that allows them to successfully deliver each project and ensures that we continue to improve on the service level we provide to our customers which for the Field and Lawn team, is always the aim.
