The flags were raised, the wellie boots were on, and the stages were set - time for WOMAD 2017!
Tuesday 29 August, 2017
Now in its 35th year, WOMAD is a celebration of world music, arts and dance. Since 1982, the festival has taken place in locations all over the globe including Adelaide, Abu Dhabi, Sicily and Santiago. However, originating in the UK, the main UK festival has been held at Charlton Park in Wiltshire since 2007.
With this year marking the 10th anniversary at Charlton Park, the 2017 festival featured live music across 5 stages, workshops covering a range of diverse subjects, as well as a tai chi demonstration, wine tasting and ska aerobics!
Throughout this busy schedule, Field and Lawn was on hand to provide the necessary structures for this unique festival. With a requirement for production areas, bars, catering, event operations areas, first aid and retail outlets, Field and Lawn took care of it all, providing over 4,000 sqm of clear span marquee and pagoda structures for the festival.
Though the grounds ended up being a little wet and muddy, this didn’t put off the festival goers. With its relaxed atmosphere and range of activities, this family friendly festival is a real stand-out in the calendar, and the Field and Lawn team was proud to be a part of it.
